welcome to The Rural 4IR Project
Bridging the digital divide
for an inclusive
digital economy
Equipping youth in rural areas with digital
skills for the 21st century workplace.
Empowering the rural youth
There is a lack of digitals training & skills development in South Africa which is causing high unemployment rates and a culture of discontentment and hopelessness amongst the youth and other community members.
We found a clear gap in essential digital skills among the learners in Grades 10, 11, and 12 (F.ET. phase) in secondary schools, highlighting the urgent necessity for providing them with appropriate training and guidance to effectively navigate and thrive in the ongoing fourth industrial revolution.
We are on a mission to aid that.
The workplace is digital, and in today’s competitive environment, employers highly value digital skills. Having the certified ability to use devices and tools confidently and productively is an effective way for students who will soon become workers to set themselves apart.
… in the near future, 90% of jobs — in careers such as engineering, accountancy, nursing, medicine, art, architecture, and many more — will require some degree of digital skills.
The Rural 4IR Project aims to provide licensed and accredited ICDL courses through modern iLab facilities to unemployed youth. Additionally, the project seeks to support rural secondary school learners by assisting them with online university applications.
